Across the Universe

I feel lik such a slacker! I haven't posted in the longest time. Gosh, I feel horrible but not that I'm making excuses (well I kind of am) but earlier this week I was sick and then I had to help my sister move.

Boy, she has a lot of stuff! And things are a lot heavier than they look. But anyway, lets get to a real post.

Last week Wednesday, 9-9-09 to be specific, The Beatles Rockband was realeased. Even though I wasn't exactly alive when the Beatles were still together doesn't mean I can't appreciate their music. I mean The Beatles are iconic.

Their music has influenced so many artists. And although I'm more of a Guitar Hero Gal myself, I appreciate the click that the game control makes when you succesfully hit the strum bar, I was still excited.

The Beatles' have so many great songs, I thought I'd list a few of my favorites. Yes, I'm a Guitar Hero addict. It's so much fun! :)

-Hey Jude

-Something

-I've Just Seen a Face

-Strawberry Fields Forever

-Happiness is a Warm Gun

-Blackbird

What Beatles' songs are your favorite? Do you even like The Beatles? Please Comment and Follow! :D

Going Gaga

Whether you love her or you hate her, there is one thing we must all agree on. Lady Gaga has a style not quite like any celebrity before her. She is a risk taker and that's part of what makes Lady Gaga...well, Lady Gaga. Does any one know Lady Gaga's real name? This is a real question by the way. I really want to know so can you comment below? Thank you! :)

Kanye wasn't the only thing that had people talking about the VMA's. Lady Gaga's quick changing abilities put all the other women of the night to shame. One dress? No way, Lady Gaga works six looks in one night.

I would feel constrained in this one. I don't things covering my face unless its a diving, sleeping, or Halloween mask. I guess I'm strange that way.

I'm wondering, as I'm sure all of you are, where Gaga gets her clothes. That is one question of the many questions I don't have the answer for. Where does she find all of these outfits. I can only imagine how long her shopping takes. Geez!

I will say that I admire her confidence. I know that I could never, and I mean never, pull any of these looks off. I guess I just don't have enough Gaga in me. :) What about you?

These last two looks are my favorite. They both seem to be Disney themed. The top one reminds me of The Lion King and the bottom one is very Mickey Mouse. :) __

OMG!

I'm sure the blog-o-sphere is just filled with posts about last night's VMA's. There was drama, drama, and more drama! Kanye got up on stage during the middle of Taylor Swift's acceptance speach and publically declared that Beyonce had "one of best music videos of all time".

Now we all now that Kanye is a bit of a douche bag but what was going through his mind when he got up on stage (he wasn't even presenting) and dod something like that? Really what a douche. Anyway the night ended on a up note when Beyonce, who was accepting for video of the year, called Taylor onto the stage to finish her acceptance speach. I must say that she's a classy lady. :)

More drama happen when Shakira and Pink showed up to the awards with the same dress on. *gasp* And of course I must ask the obvious question. Who do you think wore it better?
__
I really liked the Michael Jackson tribute. I thought it was classy and fun. :) The Thriller part was my favorite. All I remember thinking was that the dancers were really sharp and the performance was really high energy.
___
Pink had a death defying performance while Lady Gaga's was bathed in blood. Stage blood, that is) Green Day got the crowd going by inviting people onto the stage and Beyonce was getting a nation of women to ask "where their rings were at". Katy Perry joined in on the fun asking the man next to her where her ring was at.
___
The night was fun and the New Moon trailer was awesome (sorry just had to throw that one in there). :D

Awesome Girlies

First I'd like to apologize to pip a la chic for taking so long to continue on the tag/award. I know that it feels kind of sucky when you take the time to tag someone and then they don't even respond. :) But know I'm actually doing it. Pip a la chic tagged me on Tuesday and I'm just now getting around to it. Bad me.

Anyway, it is super hard to find a good blog that hasn't already been given this award. Because that's part of the rules. I have to list ten random facts about myself and then pass it on. But its seems like most of the blogs I like already have this award. So if I tag you and you've already received this, I won't take offense if you don't continue on the tag.

I just love your blog and want to tell my readers about you. Because all of the ladies I recommend are amazing, so just drop by their blogs and see for yourself. :)

Anyway onto the random facts:

1. My favorite animal is a Wombat.

2. I've been attempting to play the piano for the past year and I can only play three songs. Pretty sad, I know. But maybe its because I never practice.

3. Blog surfing has become my latest obsession.

4. I play the flute in pep band and the bassoon in concert band. I know I'm a total band geek and I love it. :)

5. I have my ears pierced but I never seem to wear earrings.

6. I have an irrational fear that one day when I open my blinds a creepy man's face will be starring into my window. It's even more frightening because I live on the second story.

7. I never know where I put things last and I live in a constant state of organized chaos.

8. I collect Disney figurines, sweatshirts from my school (I think I have five but I've only been going there for a year), and movies

9. Tennis is my favorite sport and Rafael Nadal is so cute! :)

10. I am tabloid obsessed. I have subscriptions to US weekly and OK!

The ladies that I tag are the following:

The Redhead Fashionista

Purtee in Pink

Keeps Getting Better

Life or Something Like It

Elizabeth Boyle

Again, if you've already gotten this I probably already know. Its just these are the bloggers that I actually read. I think its kind of lame to just tag bloggers because they haven't been tagged yet. Idk. Congrats ladies. :)

Btw, I'm feeling kind of sick and if I don't post for a while that's the reason.

Do Blondes Have More Fun?

I don't think I will be able to give you a personal opinion as I don't plan on changing the color of my hair anytime soon. First, I have a fear of change and I don't think it would look good on me. I like my brown hair. But hey, down the road I might be proved wrong. Maybe I'd look great with long, blonde tresses.

But a gal that can tell us the truth is Kim Kardashian. She went blonde and premeried the look at the Teen Chioce Awards. And for a girl who isn't a natural blonde, she looked good. It didn't look crazy it was just lighter.

Well, Ms. K has changed her mind, and her hair again. In a recent tweet she said "Feels good to be me again! I swear I was a different person w blonde hair"

Do you think she looks better as a blonde or a brunette? Please Comment and Follow! :D

Konichiwa Kitty Cat

Today I was going to post a Lush haul with all the soaps I got from there because after a hectic week filled with more homework then it should be legal to give, I finally had time. But, and doesn't it seem like life normally always has a but, my camera didn't have a memory card. I have no idea where that pesky little chip went.
___
*Sigh* So at the last minute I came up with something else to write about. Hello Kitty. :)

I remember loving Hello Kitty as a little girl. And now I still love it I just no longer have the Hello Kitty themed purse with the Hello Kitty shirt and the Hello Kitty skirt. Now I am grown up and limit myself to one Hello Kitty item at a time.

I know that a lot of you think that I'm some freak. :) But I assure you I am not. I wear my Hello Kitty shirt normally to sleep in, work out, or when I wake up in the morning and just can't think much less put together an outfit that requires any thought.

You know the mornings I'm talking about. The ones where its throw on t-shirt and jeans. (I mean its exhausting being cute everyday)

So I have a cute Hello Kitty t-shirt from Forever 21. Its cute especially with a white cardigan. Idk. I like punny t-shirts. :)

Another punny Hello Kitty t-shirt that I saw as I walked past Hot Topic (I normally never go into that store. I feel super intimidated. And I just feel like I don't belong.) But I saw it thought it was so cute. :) I was in a cute mood, I guess.

The Nerd Hello Kitty is adorable. :)

Anyway, sorry this post is completely not even close to high fashion. It's just fun t-shirts that I liked. Workout tees, I guess. This week has been so hectic but I plan on finding my camera if it kills me but hopefully it doesn't come to that. :)

I'd just like to take a moment to thank all the people who are or have served in the armed forces. I appreciate you and I'm dreadfully sorry for anyone who did or had family who died during the fall of the twin towers. :) You're all in my prayers.

What do you like to wear when you work out? What do you wear on your "lazy" days? Or am I the only who has those? Hmmm...Please Comment and Follow! :D

Jump on the Bandwagon

I'm so sorry. But it has finally happened. I'm in love with Twilight. I told myself that it would never happened, no I swore that it would never happen. But it did. And part of me is ashamed but the other part is asking why?

Why should I feel guilty for liking a book series? Before recently, I thought of myself as better than all those screaming girls standing for hours outside of book stores just to get some book about vampires. My thoughts were somewhere along the lines of "really? why vampires?"

But now I understand. :) Twilight: The Movie was no where as good as the book. There really was no comparison. (I know that I've just angered thousands of girls across the nation. I'm sorry but that's just my opinion.)

But that doesn't mean I'm any less excited for New Moon. I'm currently working my way through the third book. I'm so excited. :) Eeek!

I'm sorry for all of you who don't like Twilight. I know this constant talk about it is probably boring and tiresome. I felt the same way until I gave the books a chance.
___
And so with a sigh, I say with great joy: "Yes, I'm one of those crazy girls obsessed with Twilight." And I mean crazy in a totally normal, non-stalkerish way! :)
___
Happy 9-9-09!

This is so Wrong!

This is the look for Spring 2010. Or at least that would be the way of fashion in the world of Jean Paul Gaultier. This picture is from his men's fashion show in Paris.

I just recieved an email that was entitled "What do you think...". Imagine my surprise when I opened it and saw this poor young model trying his best, but completely failing, to look like he isn't completely concerned by the fact that he is wearing a moob top. It's probably a position he thought he'd never find himself. :)

I'm sure his clenched jaw and strained neck aren't signs that he's enjoying himself. But in the mainstream world, meaning everyone other than models and fashion designers, this moob top isn't going to catch on. :)

But maybe fashion will prove me wrong. But boy I hope not!

What do you think? Do you like the moob top? Please Comment and Follow! :D

Hit or Miss

Yes, the smell of tennis balls are in the air. As many of you probably already know, Anna Wintour has been seen cheering on (maybe not cheering but definately watching) these lovely ladies and gentlemen as they fight for the chance to be known as the best.

And since this is Ms. Wintour's favorite sport (Yes, and I mean Ms. Wintour as in editor in cheif of American vouge) many of the tennis player have tried to up their fashion sense and show Ms. Wintour what they're made of.

This attempt to dress well and still look great (I mean athletic attire isn't supposed to be the most flattering, just look at what gymnast are forced to wear) is sometimes a hit but also can be quite comical. We'll start with the comical.

Rafael Nadal. He's one of the best tennis players of the moment but his man capris aren't really working here... And if one man-pri isn't enough of course Nadal stunned us all with the fact that he had another pair waiting to meet the world. The red white look is a little better maybe because they don't seem so long or baggy.
____

Next we have Vania King. I can only say that her dress looked like something I would wear when I was five. I can only as her what. What was she thinking?
____

Now we will move onto people who looked completely put together. :)

Serena has gotten much better with her style. I love this color against her skin. The red is gorgeous. :)
___

I mean don't we all remember some of her previous looks? Well, if you don't here's a little something to refresh your memory.

Huge improvement I know. :) I love it. :) But her sister wasn't doing so well. I'm still confused about the stripes that are coming down her dress. Its a nice dress otherwise but the stripes in my opinion are a little dsitracting. Get it together Venus.
____

But another look I really liked was Victoria Azarenka's blue look. She looks like a mature girl ready to play tennis. It's slightly less fashion forward than Serena, its a more classic tennis look, but its beautiful. :)
___

So, that's it for now. This blog is a lot longer than I had originally intended. But oh, well. This is what I've been doing this fine Labor Day Weekend. Super exciting, I know. I wish you all fun on your long weekend. :D

Is It the Blair in Me?

If you've ever seen the show Gossip Girl, you will notice that in almost every episode Blair wears a headband. It is one of the few things that actually stay constant in this series. Blair wears headbands.

I was looking at preview material on the CW's website and I saw a clip where Dan rips Blair's headband off her head and tells her that in college there should be no headbands. Maybe its because of the fact that I'm still in High School but I like headbands.

I normally wear them to keep the hair out of my hair when I'm exercising but I also like to wear them to school. It makes it easier when I don't have to constantly keep my hair out of my face.
___
Idk. :) Maybe its the Blair in me.
____
Do you like headbands? Is it a yeah, or nay? Please Comment and Follow. :D

Distorted Perception

For the longest time I have heard about this commercial. I've heard my friend speak of it, and she said the change was astounding but up until this week, I'd never seen it before. Let me tell you I was floored. Shocked. And a little...I don't know fascinated.
___
Its the dove commercial. If you haven't seen it click here. This is a link to the Dove, Campaign for Real Beauty website. Really, if you haven't seen it. Go. It will make you think a little more.
____
You see this woman, and at first she's not a beauty but she's not horrifically ugly. She's just a woman you would see on the street. But in less than two minutes you see her transform, or should I say evolve into this woman that is nothing like how she started.
____
This commercial does make you think a little more. Its a little like SuperSize Me but in commercial form. It makes you take a second look and question the world we live in, in a way. I thought it was an interesting commercial and I want to share it with all of you even if you've already seen it.

Wallet Friendly Style

As most of us learned at an early age, money doesn't grow on trees. And with this tough economy designers have started to realize this too. That is why many of them have become to designer and manufacture for the middle class.

Yes, finally designers like Anna Sui, Alexander McQueen, Max Azria, Isaac Mizrahi, & Anna Sheffield. They are all going cheap and that is only for the benefit of the customers of Target and Walmart alike.

Alexander McQueen & Isaac Mizrahi were one of the first big name designers to partner with Target and create a line that was fashion forward, wearable, and more importantly, cheap. Both have had lines available to Target shoppers online and in stores but that time is long gone. Their merchandise is no longer available but they have led the way for other designers ready to branch out.

Max Azria
Now we've all seen the commercials. It's Miley Cyrus' new line for Walmart but what most people are forgetting is that that fame Max Azria from BCBGMAXAZRIA. He's talented and has stores that litter the world. He and Miley have combined forces to put out a line that is mostly aimed at teens. It heavily focuses on t-shirts and doesn't seem to showcase Max in all of his designer wonder but maybe next collection....

____
Anna Sui
She has been called by Time magazine as one of the Top 5 Style Icons of the Decade. Not to mention she's one of the most successful living American designers. Inspired by the hit show Gossip Girl, Anna has partnered with Target to but out a line made for the confident woman. She designed the clothes to be worn by the fashionistas Blair, Serena, Jenny, and Vanessa. They are available for purchase on Sept. 13 and I know you ladies are biting at the bit. :)

Anna Sheffield
Target has a thing for Annas. But this one is going to bring jewelery to a store near you. This New York based designer has worked in collaboration with style icons such as Marc Jacobs and fans of her work include Cameron Diaz and Jessica Alba. Anna is not afraid to mix silver and gold, as you will find both in her collection. Hearts, charms, and lightning bolts are also strong in her work.

Maybe this is a growing trend for the future.

I promised myself that my next blog would be fashion related as the last few have been really off topic. But I will tell you that I am so excited for the U.S. Open! (Yeah, tennis!) But I'm keeping myself contained to that little shout out. :)

What designer would you want to create a wallet friendly line? Please Comment & Follow! :D

Abandon Ship

Do we all remember the days? When there was no Spencer, seemingly no drama, and all the girls were awkward and civil? *sigh* Well, I do. I remember The Hills before it became "The Hills". Earlier this week as I was skimming through my beloved tabloids I spotted a picture of Heidi before her plastic surgery.

She wasn't a drop dead gorgeous beauty (but then 99% of the females on this earth aren't). She was pretty and although she was a little unreliable, she seemed like a girl with a good head on her shoulders.

What happened to that girl? I liked that girl. I miss that girl. If I haven't made my position already totally obvious, I am on Team Lauren. I don't like to have anything to do with men with flesh color beards. (Sorry Spencer but even he has to admit that he is a little bit of a douche bag)

Although the show is no longer at the height of its fame. The Pratt vs. Conrad storyline is getting a little old. But this show is still very popular. But then its star left. Lauren is being replaced by Kristin but this is old news.

My question is why all of these reality stars are ditching their roots and trying to make it on their own. Audrina Patridge has decided to leave the show. This apparently will be her last season. But again the question is why? Why now?

Since I doubt that I'll get my answer soon, I'm going to try to make this blog have a little bit to do with fashion and I'd like to mention Lauren's hair. I love her style but let's be honest she put the braidy-hair thing (not sure what its called) on the map. Juicystar07 has a video explaining how to achieve this look. Just click here.

She's chic and that's why I'm excited to see what she's planning for the future. :) I just bought her book on Amazon and I'll do a review for it in the future. :)

What do you think of the Hills? Are you over it? Please Comment & Follow! :D
