Elle Fanning's Milk-Maid Braid

Elle Fanning is such a fashionista! And she's not even old enough to drive. I have blogged about her in the past and each time I see her on the red carpet my admiration for this Ms. Fanning just grows and grows.

The topic of today's post is my obsession with the above pictured hairstyle. I believe that some people called it the "milkmaid braid". But no matter what it's called, I think it is absolutely stunning. It frames her small face perfectly. I also saw Zoe Saldana wearing this look but I prefer it on Elle.

I attempted to copy this look on Saturday and I thought it was a pretty decent copy-cat. When I was at Wal-Mart I actually got two compliments/inquiries about my hairstyle. I concluded that it was a success. What I simply adore about this look is the fact that it is so unexpected and unique. Instead of wearing a simple pony-tail or a messy bun, try the "milk-maid braid".

The Must-Have Hair of 2010

Well, of course the haircut of 2010--other than the Justin Bieber swoop--was the pixie. It seemed like every month or two another famous actress was cutting off her hair while others simply rocked their signature style. This is a look at the best pixie cuts and the most sought after look going into 2011.

Halle Berry in Gucci [left] and Reem Acra [right].

Carey Mulligan in Chanel [left] and Nina Ricci [right].

Emma Watson in Calvin Klein Collection [left] and Burberry [right].

Michelle Williams in Stella McCartney [left] and Sonia Rykel with a Chanel Clutch [right].

The pixie cut is so fashion and stunning--if you have the right bone structure--I just worry that I don't have that structure. My hair is my safety blanket. But maybe 2011 will hold new and exciting things. Today is Christmas. I hope everyone is having a great holiday with their friends and family. I'm waiting for my mom to wake up so that we can finally open presents.

Pixie

Emma Watson cut her hair! :) Eeek! I love it. I absolutely adore women who are strong enough and bold enough to sport short hair. I don't think I'm in a position that I'm confident enough to cut off my hair. It's my safety blanket, I guess.

Emma said on her facebook that cutting her hair was "the most liberating thing ever." At some point in my life I want to be ready to cut it all off but I'm not there quite yet.

I thought it would be fun to take a look at some other strong women who look fabulous with their short hair.

Jamie Lee Curtis. I think she is the definition of a strong woman and she is known for her short hair. I mean, not many women are comfortable enough to wear their hair grey. They're afraid of aging or becoming old but I love the fact that this woman embraces it.

She doesn't try to hide the fact that she's not twenty anymore. And I admire that. :) She goes to show that short hair isn't for the super young, its for everyone.

Next, there're spunky Keira Knightley. Who is the actress in two of my favorite movies ever. Bend it Like Beckham and Pride and Prejudice. Both are amazing. If you haven't seen them...well, watch them!

One makes me wish that I lived in Britain and had super soccer skills. While the other makes me wish that I lived in Britain and had an adorable Mr. Darcy to fall in love with. Sigh. That movie gets me everytime.

But Keira's hair looks so edgy like this. So fun and carefree. Keira is such a beautiful woman. Honestly. I loved her Chanel commericials with Joss Stone singing in the background. I die. [sound like Rachel Zoe, much?]

This post is starting to get kind of long so I decided to cut it off here. Other girls with short hair that I love include Victoria Beckham [honestly how can I talk about pixie hair and not talk about Posh? it seems like I blog about her constantly!] and, Halle Berry [she was kick butt in X-Men], and Natalie Portman [good thing she shaved her head before Britney did. but she has guts. i would never be able to do that.] All these women are amazing.

I feel a little like I'm Tyra Banks, you know, preaching about strong women but...whatever. I can get a little preachy every once and a while, right? I'll just try to spread it out. Okay? Bye!

Kick Back and Relax

Nudes have taken over the fashion world but it has also taken over my world. Or at least my cosmetic world. :) Yes, I have taken the leap from rosy colored lips to ones that look like I have nothing on. My mom has this lipstick color called Nice N' Nude and I put it on one time and thought it looked horrible. Horrible.

I looked washed out and pale and sick and just not...normal. But at the time (about a year ago) I failed to realize that I was missing out on a key step. The lipgloss, of course. :) Silly me.

Trust me. Lipgloss can transform a dull, pale nude lip into a stunning look. No lie. If you don't trust me look at the evidence.

Yes. Its Ms. Victoria Beckham rocking the nude lip. :) Doesn't she look amazing. Her messy hair and smokey eye just compliment her nude lip so well. Or should I say her nude lips compliments her messy hair and smokey eye?

I know that the nude lip is not a statment look but it helps create a statement look whether it be a bold eye or a intense hair do. The look is natural and stunning and...I've run out of adjectives. I don't want to sound like a broken record. :)

Mac's Creme d'Nude is a really nice color. My mom insists that Laura Geller's Nice n' Nude is the best. She is very loyal to her makeup brands. :) Either one gives an amazing look on the lips.

But Victoria is not the only sporting this look. Mary-Kate Olsen, Ciara, Angelina Jolie, and Michelle Trachtenberg (Georgina Sparks from GG). Its understated but not all good things need to visually assault the person looking at it. :) Hahaha. Enjoy and try the nude lip. Everyone else is. :D

Do Blondes Have More Fun?

I don't think I will be able to give you a personal opinion as I don't plan on changing the color of my hair anytime soon. First, I have a fear of change and I don't think it would look good on me. I like my brown hair. But hey, down the road I might be proved wrong. Maybe I'd look great with long, blonde tresses.

But a gal that can tell us the truth is Kim Kardashian. She went blonde and premeried the look at the Teen Chioce Awards. And for a girl who isn't a natural blonde, she looked good. It didn't look crazy it was just lighter.

Well, Ms. K has changed her mind, and her hair again. In a recent tweet she said "Feels good to be me again! I swear I was a different person w blonde hair"

Do you think she looks better as a blonde or a brunette? Please Comment and Follow! :D

Is It the Blair in Me?

If you've ever seen the show Gossip Girl, you will notice that in almost every episode Blair wears a headband. It is one of the few things that actually stay constant in this series. Blair wears headbands.

I was looking at preview material on the CW's website and I saw a clip where Dan rips Blair's headband off her head and tells her that in college there should be no headbands. Maybe its because of the fact that I'm still in High School but I like headbands.

I normally wear them to keep the hair out of my hair when I'm exercising but I also like to wear them to school. It makes it easier when I don't have to constantly keep my hair out of my face.
___
Idk. :) Maybe its the Blair in me.

Do you like headbands? Is it a yeah, or nay? Please Comment and Follow. :D

Abandon Ship

Do we all remember the days? When there was no Spencer, seemingly no drama, and all the girls were awkward and civil? *sigh* Well, I do. I remember The Hills before it became "The Hills". Earlier this week as I was skimming through my beloved tabloids I spotted a picture of Heidi before her plastic surgery.

She wasn't a drop dead gorgeous beauty (but then 99% of the females on this earth aren't). She was pretty and although she was a little unreliable, she seemed like a girl with a good head on her shoulders.

What happened to that girl? I liked that girl. I miss that girl. If I haven't made my position already totally obvious, I am on Team Lauren. I don't like to have anything to do with men with flesh color beards. (Sorry Spencer but even he has to admit that he is a little bit of a douche bag)

Although the show is no longer at the height of its fame. The Pratt vs. Conrad storyline is getting a little old. But this show is still very popular. But then its star left. Lauren is being replaced by Kristin but this is old news.

My question is why all of these reality stars are ditching their roots and trying to make it on their own. Audrina Patridge has decided to leave the show. This apparently will be her last season. But again the question is why? Why now?

Since I doubt that I'll get my answer soon, I'm going to try to make this blog have a little bit to do with fashion and I'd like to mention Lauren's hair. I love her style but let's be honest she put the braidy-hair thing (not sure what its called) on the map. Juicystar07 has a video explaining how to achieve this look. Just click here.

She's chic and that's why I'm excited to see what she's planning for the future. :) I just bought her book on Amazon and I'll do a review for it in the future. :)

What do you think of the Hills? Are you over it? Please Comment & Follow! :D
