Red Carpet Alert!: Lots of Leg

Love long dresses but want to show some skin? Follow in the trend that has been seen all over the red carpet. This look favored by stars like Angelina Jolie and Taylor Swift. They seem like such opposites but they both look amazing in thigh high slits.

Angelina Jolie in Versace [left] and Carrie Underwood in Georges Chakra [right].

The is nothing better than a sexy woman in a white Versace number. Jolie proves that statement. With her 60's inspired hair and all white ensemble she looks like a show stopper as she promotes her new movie, The Tourist. Underwood pairs her stunning red lace gown with simple gold sandal pumps and clutch. The sparkly red band cinches he waist and adds a little punch to her delicate garmet.

Kate Beckinsale in Balmain [left] and Gwyneth Paltrow in Atelier Versace [right].

Beckinsale chose a black sequined dress and accessorized with simple black pumps and a studded belt. She chose to throw her hair into a simple hair with simple curls left down to frame her face. Paltrow looks stunning in her pink, white, and grey gown. For such a high profile event, Paltrow let her long blonde hair down and pulled to one side.

Taylor Swift in Monique Lhuillier [left] and Victoria Beckham in her own design [right].

This is Taylor Swift's year. Her style and status as a musician has blossomed. She looks stunning this red number. With an messy upswept bun and dangly earrings, Taylor completes her look. Beckham looks amazing in a design of her own. Beckham has garnered acclaim for her designing skills and even though the Spice Girls are no more, Victoria is as posh as ever.

Christmas break is finally here. Yes! :) Last week was a whirlwind of finals and homework. Only got homework over break in one class but its kind of a big project. What are you planning to do for the holidays? If you want to come with me on my trip to pick my Christmas tree, click here.

2010 AMA: Best Dressed

The AMA's aired Sunday night on ABC. Justin Beiber was the big music winner of the night but let's be honest. The fashion is what everyone is talking about. And in that arena women of music and non-music backgrounds shimmered and shined in the spotlight.

Miley Cyrus in Marchesa [left] and Jessica Alba in Cushnie Ochs [right].

In this hand-painted Marchesa creation--with an extended train--Miley is looking grown up and beautiful. The white color contrast stunningly with her slightly tanned skin and newly dyed blonde-ish hair. Miley chose to accesorize the look with sparkly silver shoes, silver bangles, and bold red nails.

Jessica looks simple and stunning in this structure one-shoulder look. She doesn't intend to steal attention away from nominees [she presented Favorite Female Country Artist to the straigth-haired Taylor Swift] but with her effortless style Jessica steals manages to shine on the red carpet.

Fergie in Falguni and Shane [left] and Mandy Moore in Matthew Williamson [right].

Fergie stuns in a super short blue and black peacock inspired look. The strong shoulders with feathers are so chic. She pushes the limits without making her outfit look too costume-y. Nice choice Fergie. :)

Mandy Moore sparkles in this fun, young mini-dress. Her new animated-feature, Tangled, is coming out Thanksgiving weekend and I know that I'm interested, how did Disney continue on in the iconic Disney Princesses? She looks so confident--and that is key when picking out a dress.

Whitney Port in a Rafael Cennamo [left] and Heidi Klum in a sheer lace dress [right].

Whitney, sporting a darker hair-color than we're used to, shines in this Greccian inspired dress. The berry-white color and simple brown shoes are effortless. There si no doubt that Whitney looks stunning.

Ms. Klum stunned viewers with her simple lace gown. In a dress that could've easily looked like a woman in mourning, Heidi manages to look young and fashion-forward. Her dangling ball earrings bring attention to her strong bone structure and beaming style. Seal is one lucky man.

Taylor Swift in Collette Dinnigan [left] and Katy Perry in Badgley Mischka [right].

Taylor relies on her usual sparkly, girly style. But something that isn't the norm is Taylor Swift's sleek straight hair and blunt bangs. No one else grabs this amount of attention with a simple straightener. Katy takes a more subtle approach than what we're used to. No flashes lights. No blue hair. Just a subtle rose. Beautiful.

The highlight of the show for me was the NKOTB and BSB performance. I was a huge fan of the BSB when I was little. It was nice to see them perform again. Oh, did you like Taylor with her straight hair? Comment below!

Speak Now

Taylor Swift is known for her super-frilly style. She's a fan of lace, ruffles, and sparkly dress. And that is not a bad thing. :) Taylor has a signature style and she makes no apology. I'm really excited for her new album Speak Now.

She was recently on the cover of People and I bought it. She opened up about all of the songs about her life--which is basically all of them. There has been some speculation that her song, Dear John was about John Mayer. But isn't he a little old for her?

Anyway, here's a glimpse into her style. Do you like it? Do you hate it? Tell me in the comments! :)

Taylor Swift in Rebecca Taylor [L] and Roberto Cavalli [R].

Taylor hits the town in a fun mini-dress. Floral print is perfect now especially since most of the natural flowers disappeared with the summer heat. A simple white cardigan completes the look and makes it slightly more fall friendly. Long, loose curls keep the look fun and flirty while the teal strappy heels add a fun pop of color.

This is a new look for Taylor. And I must say, bravo! [is that Italian?] Dressed in head to toe Cavalli, she looks like a true fashionista. :) Instead of her usual tight curls, loose waves are a welcome change of pace. This look stays true to Taylor's love of lace, ruffles, and most things girly but she took her style to another level. Again, I must say, bravo!!

Taylor Swift in Alice + Olivia [L] and Roberto Cavalli [R].

The words Greek goddess come to mind when I see this look. But its Grecian with a twist of modern sparkle. This is Taylor Swift after all. She loves glitter and glam. Her twisted updo perfectly frames her delicate features. And her berry lips give her look a level of sophistication. She looks like the music sensation that she is.

Here Taylor is in Robert Cavalli again. But unlike above, she looks sleek and super modern. The neckline does look a little odd on her but the dress itself is amazing. The details and the asymmetrical hemline is stunning! :) Simple does not mean boring and Taylor's look is proof of that.

Question: Who do you guys want to see in the next post? Leave a comment below. :)

How To: Wear Red

Moulin Rouge!, with its music and clothes, was a roller coaster of a movie. Nicole shimmered in red lipstick. Ewan sang his heart out for the girl he loved. Moulin Rouge! is one of my favorite movies [of all time]. And what kind of Moulin Rouge fan would I be if I didn't love the color red?

Red is a great color for all skin tones. It just has to be worn properly. And that's what I'm going to talk about.

A bright, vibrant red looks [truly, utterly, and completely] amazing on girls with dark hair and olive to dark skin. The bright color contrast beautifully against the dark color of the hair and brings out the rosy color in olive to dark skin.

It almost works like a blush. A bright, true red can look amazing on a girl with rosy to pale skin. But a problem that often occurs when red is worn too close to the face is it will make a girl with red undertones in her skin look ever redder. [istant sunburn]

Like shown on Vanessa. The red makes her complection warmer and the neutral bottom half don't distract from her bold statement. This outfit would look amazing for school or even a date.

Her outfit is minimal and she doesn't have too many accesories. If you are  wearing such a bold color next to your face a bold neckalce is unneccesay. A simple gold chain would suffice. Don't go over board. Bold colors can stand alone.

Another way to wear red without going quite as bold is wearin accesories. Red shoes. Red bags. Red bangles. They make a statement without going over-board.

Whitney looks adorable with her fun, flower shoes, polka-dot skirt, and dark shirt. Again, the red color does not need any competition and she kept her outfit simple and clean. Any color can be used to make a bold statement with the shoe.

I love wearing my dark wash skinnie, a navy blue tank, and my purple converse. Make shoes the center of attention rather than the accesorie. [in other words: let your shoes be the bride rather than the supportive friend who helps make the outfit flow effortlessly.]

A lady in red. Yes, we know the song. I've sung it many times. But a simple way to be a lady in red without looking like a huge, red balloon, is to make it a slightly muted red. It still makes a huge impact but it does look like you're wearing a dress right out of a Crayola box.

Plus, a muted red or even a maroon tends to more flattering on blondes and red-heads. Don't belive the myth that red-heads can't wear red. It doesn't look trashy or clashy [nince rhyming skills, huh?] if done with the right color.

Brown accesories are also a nice [and slightly more casual] approach to styling your outfit. Black and red is a harsh color combonation and looks amazing but the brown is softer. And a safter route.

I hope you enjoyed my tips and tricks on how to wear red. Comment. Then follow on Facebook or thorough GFC! :D Thank you!

OMG!

I'm sure the blog-o-sphere is just filled with posts about last night's VMA's. There was drama, drama, and more drama! Kanye got up on stage during the middle of Taylor Swift's acceptance speach and publically declared that Beyonce had "one of best music videos of all time".

Now we all now that Kanye is a bit of a douche bag but what was going through his mind when he got up on stage (he wasn't even presenting) and dod something like that? Really what a douche. Anyway the night ended on a up note when Beyonce, who was accepting for video of the year, called Taylor onto the stage to finish her acceptance speach. I must say that she's a classy lady. :)

More drama happen when Shakira and Pink showed up to the awards with the same dress on. *gasp* And of course I must ask the obvious question. Who do you think wore it better?
__
I really liked the Michael Jackson tribute. I thought it was classy and fun. :) The Thriller part was my favorite. All I remember thinking was that the dancers were really sharp and the performance was really high energy.
___
Pink had a death defying performance while Lady Gaga's was bathed in blood. Stage blood, that is) Green Day got the crowd going by inviting people onto the stage and Beyonce was getting a nation of women to ask "where their rings were at". Katy Perry joined in on the fun asking the man next to her where her ring was at.
___
The night was fun and the New Moon trailer was awesome (sorry just had to throw that one in there). :D

Do you think Pink or Shakira wore it better? What did you think of Kanye's outburst? Please Comment and Follow! :D

Fall Needs: Jackets

Fall is upon us. Summer is almost gone and with it the opportunity to wear short sleeves and high hems. But one of the first thing any self respecting girl buys for Fall is a good jacket. Although a lot of girls at the high school and middle school haven't figured out that jackets look cute, keep them warm, and can be taken off once inside.

They insist on walking to school in a mini skirt and thin cardigan. Hey here's a tip: if there is snow on the ground put a jacket on. (many of you think I'm exaggerating but you wouldn't believe the things I see on my drive in the morning)
So since I like to keep warm and I love jackets, they are always something I pick up for my Fall /Winter closet. The first type of jacket that I think is super cute is the pea coat-like jacket. Its super warm because of the material its made out of and I really want to get one in white, navy, or mustard. Taylor chose a great color and she looks warm. :)

The next jacket I kind of debating on whether I should get it is the jacket that Bella wore in Twilight. (I'm a little obsessed. Although I never got the Rob Pattinson appeal) But I'm just a little worried that I will blend in with all the high schoolers already wearing this jacket. hmmm....Its a dilemma but maybe if I got it in white the not as many people will match me. Oh, I don't know. But please don't judge me, I just really liked the books. (the movie was horrible but for some reason I found it hilarious when I first watched it. Why did Kristen feel the need to stutter for three minutes when Edward was telling her he was leaving. (Ok, I know it was shocking but wasn't that shocking.) Ok, Twilight rant over. Sorry. :) Moving on to jackets.

The next jacket I really want to find is a leather jacket. But I'm a little afraid that I'll end up looking a little like a wannabe biker but I'm hoping that won't happen. I saw this one in Marie Claire and I just fell. I couldn't take my eyes away from it. I love it.

__________
What type of jacket are you going to buy for fall? How do you think I could wear a leather jacket and keep it un-bikery? I bought one but that's my biggest fear.

Please comment & follow! :)
