Kate Middleton Hot Pics

Kate Middleton Hot Bikini

Westminster Abbey has been chosen as the venue for next year's much anticipated royal wedding between Prince William and his long-term girlfriend Kate Middleton.

The pair announced their engagement earlier this month, which was followed by a flurry of anticipation about both the date and the venue.

This week, it was revealed that the nuptials will take place on April 29th - which has now been declared a public holiday - and the ceremony is to be held in Westminster Abbey.

News of the service is likely to entice visitors to the UK's capital from all over the world and it looks like Westminster Abbey will be top of the list of London attractions to visit during their stay.

And although the royal wedding will be at the front of people's minds as they explore the abbey, the old building has many interesting features and stories of its own.

It has long been an important location for the British monarchy, with coronations held at the church since 1066. 17 kings and queens have also been laid to rest here, so there is much history to be found for those with an interest in the royal family.

When it comes to the building itself, its Gothic structure is known around the world and visitors to this London attraction will not fail to be impressed by its towering spires and stunning stained glass windows.

Construction of the church began in 1245 when Henry III was on the throne, but it took many more years before the abbey was completed.

Over the course of five centuries, work was carried out, new chapels added and old ones rebuilt, with the West Towers the final section of the building to be completed in 1745.

If you choose to visit Westminster Abbey while in London, you will find that the beautiful architecture is worth the visit alone - its Gothic vault is the highest in England and narrow aisles only serve to make it appear taller still.

But Westminster Abbey has a connection with more than just the royal part of Britain's history. Many famous people are buried or commemorated here, including Geoffrey Chaucer, Charles Darwin, Sir Isaac Newton and Martin Luther King.

Perhaps one of the most striking graves in the abbey is that of the Unknown Warrior. The body of an unknown soldier was transported from France in 1920 to be buried in the church on November 11th.

Herbert Ryle, the Dean of Westminster, composed the inscription for the tomb stone to honour the memory of those who died in the Great War.

A wreath is still placed on the tomb of the Unknown Warrior on Armistice Day each year and it serves as a memorial to all the men who gave their lives while fighting for their country between 1914 and 1918.

Westminster Abbey is open to visitors every day of the week, so regardless of when you are in London you should be able to find time to come and see this historic and spectacular church.

Anyone who wants to worship at the abbey can do so by attending one of the daily services, or for a particularly special visit, you may want to plan ahead and attend one of the special events.

With Christmas fast approaching, there will be a range of advent services throughout December, in addition to some carol services that often prove highly popular.

In true fairy tale fashion, Brazilian Adriana was discovered at the age of 13 when she was shopping at a local shopping mall. As for fashion shows, she has walked the catwalks for big-name designers such as Vera Wang, Christian Lacroix, Emanuel Ungaro, Giorgio Armani, Fendi, Ralph Lauren, Valentino, among others. Lima continued to build upon her entry, doing more print work for Maybelline, bebe, Mossimo, BCBG and gracing the cover and editorials of more high fashion magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, ELLE, Vogue, GQ, to name a few. Her April 2006 GQ cover was the highest-selling issue of the year. Her other notable works include the well-famed Pirelli Calendar 2005 and the face of Italy’s big cell phone carrier Telecom Italia Mobile where she became known as the "Catherine Zeta-Jones of Italy."

Christy Turlington biography
Christy Nicole Turlington is an American supermodel best known for representing Calvin Klein fragrances since 1987. She has also worked on various campaigns for Maybelline Cosmetic and Giorgio Armani, has appeared in several films about the fashion industry and was a co-founder of the now defunct Fashion Cafe.

Turlington has several accomplishments in the modeling industry, having had numerous million dollar contracts with companies like Maybelline, Chanel and Calvin Klein. Although she is known as one of the most successful supermodels in history, Christy has rejected the 'supermodel' label. She is widely respected in the fashion industry as one of the friendliest and most professional models in the business. In 1988, Christy along with Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Elle MacPherson, Claudia Schiffer, Stephanie Seymour and Tatjana Patitz became known as the first supermodels. Photographer Steven Meisel booked Christy, Naomi and Linda frequently and together they became known as the "Trinity".

During the 1990s, she appeared in Unzipped, a documentary about fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, and the fashion mockumentary film Pret-a-Porter by famed director Robert Altman. Additionally, she was featured in Catwalk, a documentary covering life on the fashion runways, by director Robert Leacock. The documentary was filmed in 1993 and premiered in 1996. The film followed Christy and her fellow models Naomi Campbell, Yasmin Le Bon, Kate Moss and Carla Bruni as they jetted around London, Milan, Paris and New York during Spring Fashion Week. It included rare footage of what goes on behind the scenes at big shows including fittings, parties, shopping and catfights. The film was shot in black and white and color, and featured many top designers at work like a young John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld and Gianni Versace 4 years before his death.

Turlington also appeared in two music videos. Best friend and fellow model Yasmin Le Bon got her husband Simon LeBon of Duran Duran to feature Christy in their 'Notorious' video in 1986, as well as the album cover. In 1990, singer George Michael drew inspiration from Peter Lindbergh's January 1990 British Vogue cover (which features Christy, Naomi, Linda, Cindy and Tatjana) for his 'Freedom' video. The video featured all top 5 female models along with their top 5 male counterparts, lip-syncing the song.

On June 7, 2003 she married actor/filmmaker Edward Burns in a ceremony with U2 frontman Bono acting father of the bride. Burns and Turlington have two children: a daughter Grace born October 25, 2003 and a son Finn born February 2006. They have a dog named 'MicSpic' after Turlington's Hispanic and Burns' Irish heritage. On August 11, 2006 Women's Wear Daily reported that Turlington signed a multiyear contract with Maybelline, marking her return to the company that made her famous with its 'Maybe She's Born With It' ad campaign.
