Steal Their Style

Steal Their Style #1

1. Go Green
Emerald was a huge trend on the red carpet at the Golden Globes. And although most of us don't get the opprotunity to wear a floor sweeping ballgown every day, that is no excuse to not infuse a little inspiration from mother nature into our wardrobes. Stay causal in these low-rise skinny jeans. Keep warm in a chic parka or add a pop of color in this timeless necklace.

2. Aspire for Men's Attire
Oliva Palermo rocked this menswear inspired look with a tangerine colored blazer and checkered pant. She keeps the look feminine with yellow pumps and an adorable oversized clutch. There are many ways to add simple touches of menswear to our daily lives. A classic button-up and crisp blazer are the most versatile option. For more adventurous fashionistas try a pair of chic oxfords.

3. True Turquoise Envy
Turquoise jewelry is amazing partially for its versatility and partially for its accessability. It can be bought at almost any store within almost any price range. Go boho with turquoise mixed with wodden accents bracelet. Or go bold with these statement earrings. Silver looks stunning with truquoise accents as well--for proof, check out this bracelet.

4. Beautiful Bows
A belt will keep the waist cinched but a chic option is a bow belt. It easily adds a touch of feminity or romance to a simple outfit will highlighting the smallest part of our bodies. Like I said, belts with bows on them are available like this embellshed one. Or cheat and buy a dress or skirt with a belt bow built in like this skirt or this top. So simple but so chic.

Blake Lively: Summer, Surf, and Style

What do you get when you mix Blake Lively's California girl beauty, Mario Testino's photography, and the writing skills of Hamish Bowles? A stunning feature in Vogue Magazine. Did you miss it? Well, here is your chance to get into the summer spirit.

To prepare for her upcoming role Blake has been rehearsing with the stunt coordinator from Bond films and gymnastic acrobats from Cirque de Soleil. Blake on the rig used to to film stunts, "[It's] the best workout you can ever do...It's so exhilarating, so thrilling--and nauseating".

Blake on her role in the upcoming Green Lantern film, "All I want is to be a hero for my nephews and nieces...I'm going to be the coolest aunt ever."

Blake went scuba diving in Maldive last year and she said, "It was the most peaceful and tranquil thing...I fell in love with it."

"I love, love, love New York, but it's nice sometimes to have not so much to do--[in New Orleans] there's time to walk through the park and cook."

In between filming Blake enjoys shopping for antiques to decorate her trailer, watching movies like A Streetcar Named Desire, and listening to bluegrass and forties big band music.

Blake always looks amazing. I have to admit that I'm more than a little jealous. Leave any and all thoguhts in the comments below! I love hearing from you. Also, what do you want me to blog about tomorrow?

How To: Light Denim

Everyone knows that dark-wash is extra slimming. That is why it is so popular among women. We don't want to look bigger than we are and that is why we have been taught that dark denim is our friend. Lately, there have been many fashionistas finally deciding to buck that rule and start wearing light-wash denim freely.

Jayma Mays in a sequined skirt and denim button-up [left] and Jessica Szhor in a draped mini with a jean jacket [right].

Denim is such a work-man's fabric that an easy way to dress it up is shiny and fun sequin. It is the juxtaposition of necessity and want. A truly dark denim would've looked too harsh with the light gold color. Jessica is proving that jean jackets are not a project of the 90's. She adds a modern twist with her modern mini and black clutch.

Rashida Jones in a jean jacket and black capri [left] and Drew Barrymore in a belted long white skirt and jean button-up top [right].

Rashida adds a jean jacket to keep her look casual and it is styled perfectly with her detailed pumps and tailored capri pants. She tossed her hair up in a bun, suggesting an air of messiness. Drew looks like a breath of fresh tropical air in this billowing white skirt. She looks like she would be more at home on a beach than in the concrete jungle of New York. The dark chocolate  belt is a beautiful contrast to the light colors of her top and skirt.

Whitney Port in cuffed boyfriend jeans, a printed blazer, and white tee [left] and Blake Lively in a sequined skirt, belt, and denim shirt [right].

Light wash denim looks best in a slightly loose fitting pant. It is meant to look slouchy and un-put together. Whitney dresses it up a bit with structural heels and fitted blazer. Blake takes a casual denim shirt and keeps it casual with the messy knotted belt and shirt peeking from the bottom of her skirt but her sleek booties and sparkly skirt add class. This outfit surprisingly fits in both categories.

I just got the Glee Christmas Album and I'm so excited! :) My favorite song has got to be God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. Acapella [spelling?] music is my favorite. Thank you guys for reading!
