Christy Turlington biography
Bio:
Christy Nicole Turlington is an American supermodel best known for representing Calvin Klein fragrances since 1987. She has also worked on various campaigns for Maybelline Cosmetic and Giorgio Armani, has appeared in several films about the fashion industry and was a co-founder of the now defunct Fashion Cafe.

Turlington has several accomplishments in the modeling industry, having had numerous million dollar contracts with companies like Maybelline, Chanel and Calvin Klein. Although she is known as one of the most successful supermodels in history, Christy has rejected the 'supermodel' label. She is widely respected in the fashion industry as one of the friendliest and most professional models in the business. In 1988, Christy along with Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Elle MacPherson, Claudia Schiffer, Stephanie Seymour and Tatjana Patitz became known as the first supermodels. Photographer Steven Meisel booked Christy, Naomi and Linda frequently and together they became known as the "Trinity".

During the 1990s, she appeared in Unzipped, a documentary about fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, and the fashion mockumentary film Pret-a-Porter by famed director Robert Altman. Additionally, she was featured in Catwalk, a documentary covering life on the fashion runways, by director Robert Leacock. The documentary was filmed in 1993 and premiered in 1996. The film followed Christy and her fellow models Naomi Campbell, Yasmin Le Bon, Kate Moss and Carla Bruni as they jetted around London, Milan, Paris and New York during Spring Fashion Week. It included rare footage of what goes on behind the scenes at big shows including fittings, parties, shopping and catfights. The film was shot in black and white and color, and featured many top designers at work like a young John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld and Gianni Versace 4 years before his death.

Turlington also appeared in two music videos. Best friend and fellow model Yasmin Le Bon got her husband Simon LeBon of Duran Duran to feature Christy in their 'Notorious' video in 1986, as well as the album cover. In 1990, singer George Michael drew inspiration from Peter Lindbergh's January 1990 British Vogue cover (which features Christy, Naomi, Linda, Cindy and Tatjana) for his 'Freedom' video. The video featured all top 5 female models along with their top 5 male counterparts, lip-syncing the song.

On June 7, 2003 she married actor/filmmaker Edward Burns in a ceremony with U2 frontman Bono acting father of the bride. Burns and Turlington have two children: a daughter Grace born October 25, 2003 and a son Finn born February 2006. They have a dog named 'MicSpic' after Turlington's Hispanic and Burns' Irish heritage. On August 11, 2006 Women's Wear Daily reported that Turlington signed a multiyear contract with Maybelline, marking her return to the company that made her famous with its 'Maybe She's Born With It' ad campaign.

Tyra Banks biography
Bio:
Prior to graduating from Immaculate Heart High School in 1991, she wanted to give modeling a try. She applied and was accepted at Loyola Marymount University, that Elite modeling agency gave the 17-year-old, her first modeling job. Afterwards, she had been rejected many times for modeling assignments, which led her to drop out of college so quickly.

Within Banks's first week in Paris, other designers were so entranced by her presence on the runway that she was booked for an unprecedented 25 shows--a record in the business for a newcomer. She has done extensive print and/or runway work for fashion/advertising giants such as Anna Sui, Coors Light, CoverGirl, Badgley Mischka, Bill Blass, Cynthia Rowley, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Donna Karan, Gemma Kahng, H&M, Isaac Mizrahi, Maria Snyder, McDonald's, Michael Kors, Milk, Nicole Miller, Nike, Inc., Oscar de la Renta, Pepsi, Perry Ellis, Randy Kemper, Richard Tyler, Rifat Ozbek, Swatch, Todd Oldham, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria's Secret, XOXO, and Yves Saint Laurent. She has appeared on the covers of such magazines as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, and Elle. Banks was the first African American woman on the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. In 1997, she received the Michael Award for Supermodel of the Year. Also in '97, she was chosen for the cover of the Victoria's Secret catalog, making her the first African American to be so honored. Banks retired from modeling in May 2005 to concentrate on her television show. She walked the runway for the final time at the 2005 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. On numerous occasions, she has been sought after to appear in Playboy magazine; however, she has turned each request down.

Banks' television career began on the fourth season of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, in which she played lead character Will's ex-girlfriend Jackie Ames, and made eight appearances throughout the series. Other screen credits include Felicity, MADtv, Nick Cannon's Wild 'N Out (in which she was featured as special guest host and team captain), and The Price Is Right (guest-starring as a Barker's Beauty).

Currently, Banks can be seen on television as the hostess, head judge, and executive producer of the UPN (now the CW) television show America's Next Top Model. In addition, she does double duty as the host of The Tyra Banks Show, a daytime talk show which premiered on September 12, 2005 and recently began its second season, drawing over 1.9 million viewers an episode. The show features stories about everyday people mixed in with celebrity interviews, much like the early format of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Under the slogan "Every woman has a story...and it happened to Tyra too", Banks promotes her show using emotional flashbacks to her own childhood and adolescence. Many of the episodes deal with issues facing women today.

On the big screen, Banks has had minor roles in a few movies. Her first big screen role came in 1995 when she co-starred in the critically acclaimed drama Higher Learning. She went on to co-star with Lindsay Lohan in the Disney film Life-Size, playing a doll named Eve who comes to life. Other notable roles include 1999's Love Stinks, 2000's Coyote Ugly, and 2002's Halloween: Resurrection.

In personal life she has previously been linked romantically to musical artist Seal, NBA players Rick Fox and Chris Webber, hockey player Mark Messier, and director John Singleton. She has said repeatedly that she has no plans on dating or getting married any time soon. Currently, she is enjoying the single life and has recently moved to New York City where she focuses on both of her TV shows.

Cindy Crawford biography
Bio:
Cynthia Ann Crawford was born February 20, 1966, in De Kalb, Illinois. She was discovered by chance by a newspaper photographer, who noticed then 16-year old Cindy at work during her summer job of detasselling corn and took her a picture of her. The photo and the positive feedback surrounding Cindy's photogenic talents were enough to convince her to quit her day job and take up modelling.

Thanks to two summers of modelling, represented by Elite Model Management in Chicago, the All-American beauty proved to also have brains -- she traded in the glamorous life a model (at least temporarily) to study chemical engineering at Northwestern University, on scholarship.

During the 1980s and 1990s, Cindy was among the most popular supermodels, a ubiquitous presence on magazine covers, runways, and in fashion campaigns. In July, 1988, she became the first modern supermodel to pose nude for Playboy magazine, in a shoot by photographer Herb Ritts. In October, 1998 Crawford returned to the pages of Playboy for a second, more revealing nude pictorial. That issue was one of the magazine's all-time biggest sellers.

From 1989 to 1995, Crawford was host of MTV's House of Style. In the mid-1990s Crawford starred in famous Pepsi and Pepsi Stuff advertising. In 1995 Crawford took her first movie role in Fair Game. Her performance was panned by critics, and the film was a financial failure, with expenses of $50 million and $11 million takings at the box office. She has had several other minor acting jobs since then, none of which have been commercially or critically successful. The closest she has come to a commercially successful acting job has been her series of exercise videos.

She has been featured on the cover of many magazines, including Vogue, W, People, Harper's Bazaar, ELLE, Cosmopolitan, and Allure. Cindy also appeared in many fashion campaigns during her career, including those for Gianni Versace, Escada, Revlon, Ink. She has also worked for Omega, Maybelline, and Clairol. Of her, famous designer Karl Lagerfeld has said: "She is a classical beauty and the all-American dream girl." She was nicknamed "Baby Gia" when she entered the modeling industry because of her resemblance to the late supermodel, Gia Carangi.

In 2005, Cindy created a beauty product with Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh called Meaningful Beauty for Guthy-Renker.

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey (born March 27, 1970 or 1969; sources vary) is an American R&B/pop singer-songwriter, record producer and actress. She made her recording debut, in 1990, under the guidance of Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola, and became the first recording artist to have her first five singles top the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Following her marriage to Mottola, in 1993, a series of hit records established her position as Columbia Records' highest-selling act.

Following her separation from Mottola, in 1997, she introduced elements of hip hop into her album work, to much initial success, but her popularity was in decline when she left Columbia, in 2001. She signed a record $80 million deal with Virgin Records, only to be dropped from the label and bought out of her contract in the following year. This radical turn of events was due to the highly publicized physical and emotional breakdown, as well as the poor reception that was given to Glitter, her film and soundtrack project. In 2002, Carey signed with Island Records, and, after a relatively unsuccessful period, returned to the top of pop music, in 2005, with her album, The Emancipation of Mimi.

In a career spanning over two decades, Carey has sold more than 200 million albums, singles and videos worldwide, according to Island Def Jam, which makes her one of the world's best-selling music artists.Carey was cited as the world’s best-selling recording artist of the 1990s at the 1998 World Music Awards[9][10] and was also named the best-selling female artist of the millennium by the same award-giving body in 2000. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), she is the third-best-selling female artist, with shipments of 63 million albums. In 2008, Carey earned her eighteenth number one single on the Hot 100, the most by any solo artist. Aside from her commercial accomplishments, she has earned five Grammy Awards and is known for her five-octave vocal range, power, melismatic style and use of the whistle register.
