See Who's Wearing DVF

DVF! She knows a woman's body and knows how to make that body look its best. And isn't that what we all what? None of us are perfect but fashion is just about making it look like we do. And Ms. von Furstenberg knows how to do that.

See her work in action.

Diane von Furstenberg is master with prints and color. She isn't afraid to take risks and her risks in color have been known to pay off. Whether she does it short [Cameron Diaz] or long [Jessica Biel] she makes a woman look and feel confident.

But just because she is a wonder with colors doesn't mean she can't go the neutral route. Alexis Bledel looks stunning in black and white. Her lace up sandals are strong but compliment rather than compete with her graphic dress. Don't her blue eyes just seem to pop?

And Julia Roberts looks AH-Mazing! Her DVF shorts are the perfect compliment for her Stella McCartney jacket. Those colbalt-blue, bohemian bangles and earrings help make an almost all black outfit look fresh and young. Who needs pants when you have DVF shorts?

Daine [here with Molly Simms backstage at her Spring 2011 RTW show] is truly an icon. And don't you love her in risktaking yellow? She always puts a smile on my face. Always. :)

Plus she was on American's Next Top Model's season permiere. And wasn't she on Gossip Girl? DVF is all over the CW! Maybe I'm remembering wrong. Comment below!

School is starting to get a little intense and I might not blog as often as I should. I'm here to say sorry in advance. I'll try to write blogs in advance and then just post them but I don't know if that'll happen. :) Happy Thursday. Just one more day until the weekend. Yes!

Kim Kardashian Takes Europe

Kim Kardashian recently crossed the pond to promote Keeping Up with the Kardashians on the European continent. I love this show. I'm a sucker for reality TV. What can I say?

But I love Kim's style. She always looks classy, sleek, and modern. :) What did you think of the looks she sported in Europe.

On the left Kim is leaving her hotel in Paris. Her Hermes bag is stunning. I wish I could afford an Hermes bag but I don't that will be happening any time soon. Not with me going to college next year. But the thought is nice. And on the right Kim is enjoying a scoop of ice cream with her mom, Kris.

Kim's studded shoes are insane. :) If I wore something like that to my school people wouldn't understand. A lot of them think high fashion is Juicy Couture or Hollister. I'm so different from some of my friends. Random tangent. Sorry.

Do you or did you go to a high school like off Gossip Girl? Where everyone was dressed to perfection everyday?

The Kardashians in Milan. I'm so excited for Milan Fashion Week. I already posted about Versace and D&G. But I'm in heaven during fashion week. :) But Kim loves to show off her long legs in short hems. But she always looks so effortless.

On the right Kim and Kris are still in Milan but she opted to wear animal print as she decided to enjoy Germany. That white dress is so stunning. White is classic and timeless. And her nude pumps just make her legs appear elongated. And now we know that Kim and Larry King are one of the few people able to make suspenders work. :) Good to know.

I'm off to celebrate my Dad's birthday. :) Have a great week!

Mi piace la moda

Versace. When I hear word I think sexy, Italian sexy. And this year Donatella did not disappoint. The hems might have been longer than usual but a girl does not have to wear a non-existant mini-skirt to be sexy. Donatella knows that.

The cut-outs give a flash of skin plus give a simple blue mini-dress interest and originality. It does the same for a simple black tank. These are looks made for a confident, sexy woman made by a confident, sexy woman.

White. The color of snow. The color of polar bears. And the hardest color to keep clean. But any woman who can afford Versace can certainly afford a top grade cleaner. :) Sigh. This year Donatella stuck to basics, well when it came to colors.

Yellow. White. Red. Black. Aquamarine. And, well of course, nude.

And while Donatella decided to keep the colors basic. The execution was anything but. She mixed all the colors of the collection into two different prints. Which was genius, by the way. Can't get enough of that striped print. :) Adorable!

Asymmetrical necklines flatter almost any woman. They're a staple in almost every Versace collection. Nudes also look great on most women. Nude clothes tend to slim and nude shoes make your legs appear longer. Speaking of shoes, those Versace cut-out shoes are stunning. They mimic the cut-outs in their clothes and they're so amazing. I want them! :)

Oh, Italian fashion. I love you. :) Disclaimer: I got the title from Google Translator so I hope that it makes sense. I don't actually speak Italian so I'm taking Google's word for it.

Just Another Friday

Yay! It's Friday...again! :) And a lot of people seemed to like my random Friday. They're not going to be fashion-related necessarily but they're just going to be...well, random. :) I'm sorry that I haven't been posting because I've been so sick.

I'm sorry. All I've been doing is sleeping, eating, and going to school. That's all I have the energy to do.

First Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams are on the cover of W Magazine promoting their new movie Blue Valentine. Its a romantic drama about how love transforms over time. Can love last the time when they want different things?

I adore Ryan Gosling. Hello, The Notebook? It was amazing. :) Sigh. I'm a sucker for love. Are you? But my guy friend, whenever I talked about Ryan Gosling only refers to him as Number 48. Yeah, he's a total guys' guy. :)

In Eastern China in an attempt to prevent loitering and to give everyone a chance to sit and enjoy nature, they're put benches in the park that require you to pay to sit down. You put money into the box at the bottom and when you're time runs out spikes with come up out of the seats and poke you. My English teacher told me about this.

What are your thoughts on that? Would you pay to sit on a bench? Click here to learn more.

This walrus can do better situps than I can. :) He's so cute and my sister showed me this video earlier this week and it made me smile. Something I haven't been doing because of the throbbing in my head. I hope it made you smile too.

If you can't see the video just click here. By the way, can you see this video. Tell me in the comments, please. :)

My focus this weekend is to get better and I'll be back next week, I hope. :)

Black Swan

I'm a big fan of Natalie Portman. I think she travels along her own path and doesn't let other people's opinions stop her from doing something. Case and point: shaving her head for V for Vendetta. That was brave--most girls would never do that--and bold.

But I saw the trailer for her new movie, Black Swan. Oh, it is so creepy looking. Here's the link. [i can't seem to place youtube videos straight into my video. does anyone know what i'm doing wrong?]

The Rodarte designed costumes are sure to be stunning. But its the story of two ballerina dancers who must vie for the lead in Swan Lake. Natalie Portman plays a woman who finds herself discovering her dark side.

This film premiered at the Venice Film Festival and Variety called it, "one of the strongest Venice openers in recent memory".

It looks really good and I'm really curious because I'm wondering, does she turn into a swan? But I don't do well with horror/physchological thrillers...so I don't know. Jeez. Every time I watched the trailer I get shivers.

But I guess that was their intent when they made it. Black Swan is going into a limited release on December 1st. Are you going to go watch it?

Moving onto fashion-related news, on September 21st Burberry's Spring 2011 Collection will be streamed live to 25 locations worldwide and you can purchase items immediately on the i-pad. I know that I don't have the money to buy anything but I'm so excited to see what Christopher Bailey has dreamed up for this season.

Oh, if only tomorrow would get here faster!! What is 4PM London time on the East Coast, like California?

Don't forget to like Viva La Fashion on Facebook and enter my giveaway. Its ending soon!!
